Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Gets More Standard Safety Features | Motoroids

Maruti Suzuki has updated the Ertiga MPV with more standard safety features. This update will increase the safety quotient of the popular MPV. With the update, all the variants of the Ertiga will get Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Hill-hold assist standard across all variants. These safety features were previously reserved for the automatic variants only and this move has now added these features to the manual variants too.

Maruti provides four airbags and brake assist in higher-spec variants, while the standard kit includes dual airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors and the aforementioned ESP and hill hold assist. Ertiga received a three-star Global NCAP rating for adult and child occupant safety. The test rated MPV’s body shell and footwell as ‘unstable’. However, the new Ertiga offers a more standard safety kit.

Other features of Ertiga are a new metallic teak-wooden finish and dual-tone fabric seats. The interior is equipped with a 7-inch Smartplay pro infotainment system and It also comes with a voice assistant that can be activated with the ‘Hi Suzuki’ command with Suzuki Connect which offers over 40+ features. It also gets a compatible smartwatch & voice connectivity through the Suzuki Connect skill for Amazon Alexa. Customers can remotely access & operate the AC function, door lock, headlamps OFF, hazard lights, alarm, and many other features through these devices. It also comes equipped with a parking camera, cruise control, auto headlamps, automatic climate control, a color MID, electrically foldable ORVMs, air-cooled cupholders, and AC vents for all three rows.

The new Ertiga gets the power from a new K-series 1.5 L Dual Jet, Dual VVT with idle start/stop technology. It produces 101 hp and 136 nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. Customers also have an option of a 6-speed torque converter gearbox with paddle shifters. It returns 20.51 km/l in the manual guise and 20.30 km/l when mated to the automatic gearbox. The new Ertiga offers CNG in the VXI and ZXI variants. The CNG variant returns 26.11 km/kg. The new generation of Ertiga was launched in April and the price was set at Rs. 8.35 lakh (ex. showroom). But after the recent price hike, the car now comes with a price tag of Rs. 8.41 (ex. showroom) lakh.
